| i was going to put a supra motor in it. i had 1 lined up for $2500 but my builder told me like 10 grand. so that stop that idea. now i guess i'll just get the same 22re an build it. | |

| which Supra motor? a 7M-GTE from the older Supra is easier to fit than the 2JZ from the last gen, and also much cheaper to get, and is still buildable to 300-400hp easily. There's also the 3S-GTE, the 4cyl turbo motor from the MR2, not sure how it matches up with a front engine, rwd transmission though. The supra motors are both inline 6s so you end up with space problem, might have to pound the firewall back. Check out www.supratrucks.com - not exactly the coolest looking site but you can get some info on the 2 Supra swaps there. The 22re is an interesting motor to build - if you're going for power and looking at supra motors, I assume you'd look into turbo'ing your 22re. The outcome of course depends on many variables in how you build the motor, but they generally make a lot more torque than horsepower, and coupled with the light rearend of a minitruck you'll just have a burnout machine. I don't know if they use the same motormounts, but a V6 should be swappable as our trucks were originally available with one as well - But i've heard they have issues with blowing headgaskets, and you'll use more gas just to drive around as well. If you just want a big of extra poke, check out Celica forums for tuning info as they all had 22re's back in the day as well. | |
