Torsion bar installation???

Hey guys im going to be getting some new torsions tomorrow because i have none and the ride is real bad. I am going to a local scrap yard...I dont know how to remove them and then install them into my truck. Any suggestions on what i need or anything???

i know a guy who lost a finger to a mazda tb.

that said..
take a jack... and raise up the vehicle to remove the tension from the bar (tire off ground) work one side at a time. locate the bar. midway under cab is a bolt in the bar that adjusts the tension... remove this bolt and be sure to grab the "t" bolt out of the cross member. Then pull the bar out from the lower control arm (if needed.. get the keyed brackets off each arm)... repeat for other side.

to install.... it's reverse other than having to figure out where to set the bar for the correct height, be patient.. this takes a while and the you'll be rasin and lowern the truck with the jack a ton of times..

** TIP - never adjust a torsion with the tire on the ground or the bar under tension, and when installing try to adjust the bar so that when its set the ride height the brackets under the cab are not lower than the frame rail.

i got the torsions but i snapped a t bar bolt... I ordered a new set for both sides from mazda... So i guess i wont have to reindex them will i??? What is reindexing???

yeah you will will still reindex..
reindexing is just turning the in the keyed bracket... kinda like skipping several teeth to gain a higher or lower stance when tightened back up.... rotating.

Are there any pics that can be posted to show how this is done? Seems that I knew how do to this ages ago frickin can't recall anything that far back now it seems.

I had no batterys but i will write something up about it.... If you have Any specific questions let me know i can answer them. I got both sides in, in about an hour and a half, Took me pretty long because everything was seized and stuff let me know I can help....

another helpful tip USE JACKSTANDS while you are under the truck. We dont need to lose any fellow minitruckers...
