New Job...Do I bother with a 2 Weeks Notice?????

So here is my situation,

I just got a new job offer that I took, and they know I am already employed at another job. I told them I would like to put in my two weeks notice and they said that is fine.

But, I hate my present job with a passion. I don't want to put in my two weeks at all. But if i don't they will be screwed and have nobody to cover my position as manager. And I could possibly be screwed as well, because I may not be able to be rehired if something were to come up down the road.

I just don't know what to do? I was always taught the 2 week notice, and the people I work with are great I just hate the workplace.

What do you guys think?

put yourself in the company's position.
i've always been taught to do the same..
besides if you just take off any return to that position is shot.
I realize you hate it... but your peers will appreciate you more for giving a notice rather than just hanging them out. just my 2cents...

I just got back from putting my two weeks in.

It was a little awkward, but it worked out great!

I was promised a job there anytime in the future, and they were more then happy to see me go somewhere where I will be making more and better myself.

if you've got the time/opportunity to do so, it's good to give 2 weeks - i've left 2 jobs on no notice now, and i hate doing it, but one i just needed out of, the other, i was kinda forced (start monday or don't start). Always best to keep good contacts/references
